Breaking and pushing the boundaries of practise-based research has led researchers to question how far to extend into areas of risk. Decisions of whether or not to take risks, and how much risk to take on can influence the choices of design researchers. This conference aims to explore the role of risk-taking and resilience within creativity discussing how risk can act as an incentive rather than a form of demotivation during the design research process.

The first Annual International LDoc PhD Research Network Conference on Risk and Resilience in Design Research will take place between 2nd – 3rd April 2020 at BBC White City. The conference will bring together leaders in the field of innovative cross-disciplinary practise and emerging scholars who represent a broad range of disciplines and perspectives. A variety of presentations offer opportunities for attendees to share their work, discuss key issues in the field, and build relationships.
